Summary

This role will be based in the Berlin workshop, providing both lutherie and administrative assistance to the office. With primary responsibility over assisting the workshop staff with the preparation and ongoing maintenance of auction inventory, the role will also assist with any workshop-related admin.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Lutherie: Assistance with preparation of properties for auction: minor work and adjustments; assisting with written buyer queries relating to properties.
  • Cataloguing: Writing condition reports for auction and private sale properties (graphical and written); assisting in the cataloguing of property (internal shots, label transcriptions & IR photography); reporting endangered species materials.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following:
  • Experience in a workshop role
  • Training in violin-making
  • Experience writing detailed condition reports for instruments
  • A love of music and desire to work within a creative environment
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service ethics and high expectations for quality
  • Strong verbal/written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Process-oriented and adaptable mindset
  • Ability to work with Mac systems and Google apps
  • Strong teamwork mindset, paired with an ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English

Offer

Schedule:
  • Flexible, based on negotiation. Minimum requirement of 20 hours per week during October and November.

Remuneration:
  • €17.50 per hour
  • Freelance employment with a view to a possible future permanent position in the workshop.
